- Description - |
|
Atacand HCT is a combination medication used in the treatment of high blood pressure. One component, candesartan, belongs to a class of blood pressure medications that workby preventing the hormone angiotensin II from constricting the blood vessels. Thisallows the blood to flow more freely and helps keep blood pressure down. The othercomponent, hydrochlorothiazide, is a diuretic that increases the output of urine. Thisremoves excess fluid from the body and helps lower blood pressure. Doctors usuallyprescribe Atacand HCT in place of its individual components.
