Foradil

- Description -
Foradil is an asthma medication. It relaxes the muscles in the walls of the airways,allowing them to expand. When taken on a twice-daily basis, it helps to control asthmaand can be used to prevent tightening of the airways (bronchospasm) in patients whoneed regular treatment with short-acting inhalers, including those with nighttime asthma.
Taken on an as-needed basis, Foradil can also be used to prevent exercise-inducedbronchospasm (also called "exercise-induced asthma") in adults and children 12 years ofage and older.
- Common Side Effects -
Abdominal pain,allergic reaction,bronchitis,chest infection,chest pain,difficulty breathing,difficulty speaking,dizziness,dry mouth,fatigue,headache,high blood sugar,high or low blood pressure,inability to sleep,indigestion,irregular heartbeat,muscle cramps,nausea,nervousness,rash,runny nose,stomach upset,tonsillitis,tremor,unwell feeling,viral infection,worsening of asthma
- Possible Interactions -
Antidepressants categorized as "tricyclics," such as Elavil and Tofranil
Antidepressants classified as "monoamine oxidase inhibitors," such as Nardil and Parnate
Beta blockers (drugs such as Inderal and Tenormin that are used to control blood pressureand treat various heart conditions)
Steroids such as prednisone and hydrocortisone
Theophylline (Theo-Dur, Slo-Phyllin)
Water pills (diuretics) such as HydroDIURIL or Lasix
